Long before it became The Vault, this building held a different story. Built in 1908 as the Intercourse National Bank, it has stood at the heart of this village for over a century. Here is a look at where it came from, and how it became what it is today.
Built in 1908
This building opened its doors as the Intercourse National Bank in 1908, at a time when this village was still finding its footing as a community hub. The original hardwood floors, the soaring ceilings, and the bank vault itself, the very one you see today, were all part of that original construction. We have historic photographs from the building’s earliest days, including images taken during construction, that we’re working to restore and share here.
More Than Just a Bank
Over the decades, this building has been more than a bank. It later became home to a museum of edge weapons, a collection built by a previous owner with a lifelong passion for the craft. Long before we ever walked through its doors, this building had already lived several lives, each one leaving its own mark on the space.
Restored With Purpose
When we found this building, it needed love. We saw a building with real character just waiting to be brought back to life, so we made it our mission to restore it, not reinvent it. Every original detail we could preserve, we did. The teller’s cage, the vault door, the hardwood floors, all still here, all still telling the story of what this building has always been. We didn’t buy this building to make money. We bought it to give this community something beautiful to gather in, and to honor over a hundred years of history in the process.
